New Gate Project Underway

The Sioux River Sportsmen’s Club board has approved a new automatic gate to replace the existing damaged gate.

The new gate will have two 16-foot sections and two card readers mounted on posts on either side of the gate. One of the two sections will be opened by the operator motor. The other section of gate will be able to be opened manually and will remain closed most of the time unless large equipment needs to be moved in.

The location of the gate will be moved further down the driveway to the top of the hill next to the tree line. Barbed wire fencing will be added along either side of the driveway to prevent vehicles from driving around the gate.

The gate location is changing for several reasons. One of which is safety on the highway. Sometimes the line backs up onto the road as people are entering the club. It will also provide flatter ground for the gate to operate. The ground is also more stable for the posts than the wet swampy ground around the current gate.

Dirt work was completed already to allow for a turnaround in front of the gate.

The power lines that run along the driveway will have to be raised and a new pole installed with transformer.

As of now, the range will stay open during construction. But there may be a need to close it should the need arise. If it does, we will send emails to the membership.

The project is expected to be completed before winter.
